Dan Sowell began serving as our Senior Minister in March 2003. He is a graduate of Houston Baptist University, Houston, Texas and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Dan first responded to God's call to ministry as a college student.  He served as youth minister at Rice Temple Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, First Baptist Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas and Willow Meadows Baptist Church in Houston. Dan received additional pastoral care training at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he served as a hospital chaplain.

As a church planter working with Pulaski Baptist Association and the Arkansas Baptist State Convention, Dan helped establish and served as pastor of Pinnacle Baptist Church in Little Rock.  He later joined the faculty and administration of his alma mater, Houston Baptist, as an instructor in the Department of Christianity and Philosophy, Director of the Center for Exploring Ministry Careers, and as an associate in the Campus Ministries Office. 

In 1993 Dan was appointed by the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention as a missionary to Zambia where he served as Administrator/Strategy Coordinator of the Baptist Mission of Zambia until 2000 when he and his family moved to Tallahassee.  At that time he began to work with our Pastor Emeritus Ray Tindall, as a chaplain at Tallahassee Community Hospital.

Dan's interests include reading and films. Dan's wife, Donna, is an RN. They have seven children and four grandchildren.
